A couple months back I was glad and grateful to be asked to play at Kenzhero and Tha Muzik’s latin themed night Obrigado at The Living Room, a truly wonderful Joburg party, and to put a short half hour mix together for their podcast. This is a slightly extended version of that. Some of the most moving and sublime music ever written and recorded emerged out of Brazil, and has been of a massive influence to pretty much any of us involved in soul, jazz, house and so on. A lot of these are well-played classics that are not new to the DJs and collectors, yet having not listened to them for a while they sound fresh as fuck to my ears. If it’s new to you, please put it on repeat a few times, and lets its glorious nature sink in.
